Testimony from the Iranian missile attack
When we were in Iraq there was a missile attack that happened from Iran. Every day there were talks of war, of Iran invaded Iraq, the potential of bombs and missiles being launched in Iraq. People were so scared. Missionaries were evacuated, non-profit workers were leaving as soon as they could – D and I had a time of prayer that lasted nearly all day. We were praying whether we should stay or evacuate. Everyone was telling us we should leave as soon as possible, but during that time of prayer we felt the Lord telling us to stay. That day over a dozen missiles were launched into Iraq.
During our time of prayer D saw a vision of the missiles entered Iraq and how angels were guiding them. Every single missile missed their target. Every single one of them! We had friends that were evacuating at the time the missiles were hitting Iraq and one missile hit the airport. That missile was one of two missiles that did not explode. In that moment we were reminded of the last verse in the Great Commission – “I am with you always” – Jesus was commissioning the disciples into the nations – into some of the darkest parts of the world, but they weren’t going alone, Jesus was going with them.
In that moment I felt that. I saw that Jesus was not only with us, but He was with the nation of Iraq. He was fighting for Iraq, for the people of Iraq. Why else would he send angels to guide the missiles?
We go into these nations with confidence that Jesus is there with us. He is fighting for these nations. These nations that no one wants to go to and that people are scared to go in. We saw that and it changed our perspective, it honestly changed the way we do ministry. That moment will stick with us through the rest of our lives and that moment confirmed for us that Iraq is a nation Nineveh Mission is mean to go into.
